WHAT IS FAKE.
FAKE. is your reminder that internet media and communication are fake: shallow, manipulative, and completely at odds with what most people value and how most people communicate in the real world.
The early internet was a pretend space for people to do things they couldn’t do and say things they wouldn’t say in real life. It still is, but there are too many people spending too much time online who don’t seem to get it.
Our future generations (young people), and our elderly and most vulnerable (politicians) are actually using the internet to learn about the world and to learn how to communicate. The results are clear: social media has made them less social, and internet news has made them less informed.
But we get it - internet media is nothing more than a commercial for our attention, and addiction, fear, and anger are its best sellers. This ad-exposure tool was ok when it was just for fun, but the fun is long gone. Soon we’ll be faced with an internet where nearly all content is created, shared, and discussed by corporate accounts, bots, and AI. The only role for us then is to consume and be used.
The era of useful Internet media is over. Help us spread the word, get people offline, and turn back toward something REAL.
